Program Description: 

This program alternates monthly between the Human Research Professional’s Meeting (HRPM) and the IRB Lunch & Learn. These educational opportunities are designed to provide new or updated  information regarding human research protections and encourage researchers to consider the information being presented in the context of his/her research practice.

Objectives:

  • Identify resources for finding and interpreting policies, procedures and issues from our institution that apply to human subject research.
  • Apply ethical principles and new/revised federal, state and institutional regulations and guidances governing all aspects of human subject research to their own human research protocols.
  • Identify how regulations and ethical principles apply to human research team members, subjects, the institution, IRBS and sponsors.
  • Distinguish between research and practice, refine skills for the conduct of informed consent, take pro-active steps toward data security, self-identify reportable events, and identify tools that will facilitate the conduct of human subject research according to best research practices.

ACCME Accreditation Statement:
The Medical College of Wisconsin is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit Designation Statement:
The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Hours of Participation for Allied Health Care Professionals:
The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this activity for up to 1.5 hours of participation for continuing education for allied health professionals.

Psychology CE Credit Statement: 
The Medical College of Wisconsin is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Medical College of Wisconsin maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
