Program Description:

Grand Rounds:  addresses gaps in medical knowledge of anatomy and diagnosis, concerns relative to patient safety and quality improvement (system based learning and improvement), need for practice based learning and improvement with the outcome of better patient care.

This conference is designed as a venue for faculty, visiting professors, fellows and residents to present didactic lectures representing the most up-to-date knowledge in orthopaedic surgery.  Collegial discussions afford participants the opportunity to share clinical and surgical knowledge and application of knowledge to their patient population in varying settings.

M&M:  addresses patient morbidity and mortality.
Morbidity and Mortality Conferences have been increased from 5 to 8 times a year.  The faculty member assigned to direct M&M coordinates the cases compiled by the residents and directs the discussion on these cases and their complications.  Faculty and residents discuss physician and system errors, patient safety issues, pertinent literature to apply evidence based medicine principles and methods to improve medical knowledge and patient care.
