This educational activity is designed to promote learning by providing clinical and research-related education delivered by national and local experts. This will include a discussion of current advances in imaging and imaging research. Sessions are focused around a current and developing practice and research trends in all imaging modalities. Establish gold standards of care and research are discussed in relation to the specific topics. Additionally, discussion of the science related to the imaging modality and area of research will occur. The intent is to enhance the knowledge of participants through collegial discussion and learning; ultimately improving patient care and research endeavors.
Advancements of imaging technology and research projects and their outcomes continually impact the practice of radiology and standards of care/imaging protocols for practicing radiologists. This has created a need for active, continuous discussion about research discoveries, imaging advances, and integration of these advances in radiology with the goal of safe and effective practice/patient care/research as well as integration of the American College of Radiology Standards and Appropriateness Criteria. This need was acknowledged by the American Board of Radiology. The Research Section of the Department of Radiology and the Clinical Section of the Department of Radiology are aware that physicians in radiology need instruction in developments in research, the technical aspects of imaging, in the critical appraisal of literature, in evaluation of findings, and in how advances in technology and new protocols should or should not be integrated into standards of practice. The Seminars in Imaging Advances and Research will foster a learning environment that will facilitate these discussions.

- Enhance existing knowledge and patient care practices related to advances in imaging and research
- Integrate current literature‐ and research based findings with existing knowledge
- Critically self‐assess one’s own practice and integrate educational series offerings into practice
- Assess how to change one’s practice, thereby improving quality of care, based on findings from literature and collegial discussion
