This 2-hour course provides evidence-based treatment/management strategies for patients with certain types of pain and or substance abuse disorders. This course has been approved by the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board as meeting the requirements for a continuing education course on the responsible opioid prescribing guidelines per Med 13.03(3) of the Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Target Audience: Healthcare professionals who care for patients who use opioids and other controlled substances.

Statistical Thinking

Residents and fellows are expected to practice evidence-based medicine, critically evaluate literature, prepare journal club presentations, complete scholarly projects, and make diagnostic and treatment decisions based on clinical evidence. However, many report limited confidence in interpreting biostatistical concepts. This microcredential addresses that gap by providing a practical, clinically focused approach to biostatistics that emphasizes application rather than mathematics. This course is positioned as a career-relevant skill builder that helps trainees become better clinicians, researchers, presenters, and future faculty members.
