The agenda includes sessions on precision medicine in IBD, new therapies for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, head-to-head trials in IBD, positioning of small molecules in IBD treatment, obesity and IBD, exclusive enteral nutrition therapy in pediatric Crohn's, mental health and IBD, surgical management of ulcerative colitis, rheumatologic manifestations of IBD, and a historical perspective on IBD.
 

Target Audience

This is a program designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, allied health professionals, interns, residents, fellows and community partners specializing in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, General and Colorectal Surgery and Basic scientists.

Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to: 

  • Describe novel and emerging therapies in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease and how they are best positioned to optimize disease outcomes.
  • Understand the different mechanisms of action for novel and emerging therapies in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease and the potential complications associated with these therapies.
  • Identify the patient characteristics that allow for therapy cessation and/or de-escalation in patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
