Program Description: 

The activity is directed towards patients in the emergency department experiencing a variety of symptoms and illnesses, including but not limited to trauma, sepsis, undifferentiated hypotension, abdominal pain, chest pain, respiratory distress, and other more focused patient presentations. It can also be applicable to patients in both an inpatient and outpatient settings where ultrasound is available.

Emergency Medicine Physicians
 

Learning objectives: 

Participants of the skills lab will have dedicated lecture time followed by hands on training of basic emergency medicine point-of-care ultrasound exams proctored by ultrasound trained faculty. The core emergency medicine ultrasound applications including E-FAST, basic cardiac, abdominal aorta, skin/soft tissue, ocular and pulmonary exams will be taught and practiced. Basic ultrasound applications, image acquisition, interpretation of normal anatomy and pathology, and psychomotor skills for conditions with potential high morbidity and mortality will be taught and then demonstrated by participants on standardized patients.
