Ethics/Lecture Discussion 101

Amber Cadick, PhD, HSPP,  Chris Haymaker, PhD

And just like that…you are trapped! Ethical situations can arise for Family Medicine educators and learners without warning and can leave one feeling paralyzed and helpless. This session will help attendees break out of the Ethics Escape Room. Attendees will be provided with an ethical decision making pocket guide. This information will be applied to ethical scenarios that have been complicated by the COVID pandemic. Specifically the scenarios will cover: finding out about an unethical situation in a public situation; information shared on social media that impacts patient and team safety; telemedicine boundaries and privacy; and navigating between infection control and providing adequate learning experiences. After attending this session learners will have the tools and resources they need to provide their trainees with a guide to conquer future ethical conundrums.
