Ethics / Lecture Discussion 203

Lynn Simons, PsyD, Meaghan Beasley, MD, Christine Medaugh, MD, Bonny Rye, MA

The concept of medical professionalism is often a learned behavior.  The Family Medicine Milestones focuses on the development of professionalism skills within residency, for the benefit of patients, safety, collegial relationships, and to help medical institutions protect and maintain professionalism goals.  Yet, professionalism is often a work in progress for physicians and physicians-in- training alike.  We will explore several formats to increase awareness of potential pitfalls, to facilitate group learning and to enable providers to generalize and see the relationships between professionalism lapses.   Multiple perspectives of team members will be presented, highlighting the evolving nature of professional development.
