Geriatric Mood Disorder Management requires a unique approach compared to young and middle age adults. This population needs special attention given unique needs related to aging related changes in medical and mental health conditions, risk of polypharmacy, and susceptibility to medication adverse reactions. This presentation will address diagnostic, medication, and disease management guidelines and recommendations for mood disorders in geriatric patients. Given that these patients have the potential to benefit from inter-professional management, a team based approach involving pharmacists, mental health providers, and family will be discussed.
