Round Table 301D

Grace Pratt, PhD, LMFT, Aubry Koehler, PhD LMFT

Academic medicine and motherhood are each demanding, and mothers whose responsibilities span both roles experience challenges as they navigate both their professional and personal responsibilities.  Both groups are susceptible to burnout, but the intersection of these identities provides unique opportunities for resilience as well. Participants will read and respond to a relevant published brief narrative piece, as well as share their own experiences of motherhood and academic medicine.  This round table discussion will include conversation about the emotional role conflict and strategies participants have found in both spaces and also the process of supporting and advocating for trainees who are mothers.
