Forward5th Annual Solid Organ Transplantation Symposium
This educational symposium will showcase updates in state-of-the-art basic science and clinical/translational research works in organ transplantation and immunobiology by scientists and investigators from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the BloodCenter of Wisconsin, and other academic surgeons from regional transplant programs, who are qualified to report on up-to-date topics. Organ transplantation is a durable life-saving modality. Organ shortage in the United States is the principal limiting factor in the expansion of organ transplantation. There is a need for multidisciplinary collaborative organ transplantation research to develop innovative strategies to a) Increase the number of transplantable organs and b) Improve patient outcomes after transplantation.
The ongoing organ shortage in the United States results in more patients dying while waiting for organ transplantation. Gaining knowledge in state-of-the-art innovations in solid organ transplantation will result in improving patient and graft outcomes.
