Program Description:

The GI/General Tumor board is a multidisciplinary collaboration and communication between specialties to discuss GI and other cancer cases not covered in our other site-specific cancer conferences with adherence to the most up to date NCCN guidelines for appropriate diagnosis of patients, even in complex cases. With ever-evolving oncologic research, access to trials, genetic testing and updated NCCN guidelines, the need for collaborative providers and specialties to discuss complex classes and treatment protocols leads to the ability to develop a recommendation for current and future patient care in a holistic manner documented in the electronic health care record. Oncologic cases can be requested or submitted to the tumor board for review. For each case discussed the goal is to improve staging of patient disease, performance status, influence improved quality outcomes, understand and apply national treatment guidelines (NCCN) and current oncology standards of care to optimize the management of patients with Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Head and neck, etc. cancer.
