Program Description: 

This weekly discussion encompasses all patients followed by the inpatient infectious diseases team as well as any other outpatients whose clinical presentations are of interest or in whom additional discussion of their clinical care may benefit their treatment. The series will also provide journal club review of articles and update in local infectious disease research discoveries throughout the year.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Maintain knowledge of treatment modalities and complications of common pediatric infectious disease conditions
  • Increase knowledge of rare or unusual pediatric infectious disease conditions or complications by sharing experiences of clinical care between providers
  • Develop knowledge (through reviewing newest literature) to support changing practices in the field of pediatric infectious disease
  • Increase individual professional performance in providing care to patients through collaboration and discussion with other pediatric infectious disease providers
  • Increase relationships within the fields of pediatric infectious disease, microbiology, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection prevention both within the institution and nationally
