Program Description: 

This CME program addresses gaps in medical knowledge and best practices with regards to the clinical practice of internal medicine and teaching learners the discipline of internal medicine. These conferences update the audience with new findings and best practices to match current understanding in the field of internal medicine so that our faculty are knowledgeable, competent, and practice patient care of value to the patient.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Understand the basics of buprenophrine pharmacology.
  • Gain the skills to comfortably initiate and monitor buprenorphine therapy in patients with uncomplicated opioid use disorder (OUD) and when to refer patients for more intensive or specialized care
  • Learn strategies to distinguish chronic pain from OUD and the benefits, drawbacks, and logistics of utilizing buprenorphine in patients with chronic pain
