Overview

This day-long CME educational activity is designed with two parallel tracks for a diverse audience. The symposium will highlight best practices, access, and innovation in kidney and pancreas transplantation, and optimal strategies and approaches to minimize complications of chronic liver diseases and improve patient care. Invited speakers include distinguished academic providers who can provide up-to-date summaries of the topics.

Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Explain the current listing criteria for kidney and pancreas transplantation and the new options that increase access to organ offers.
  • Counsel patients on the available options for organ matching and utilize available resources that remove disincentives to donation.
  • Identify the benefits and limitations of current emerging technologies in the field of kidney & pancreas donation and transplantation and machine preservation technologies.
  • Discuss the efficacy, safety, and anticipated outcomes for treatment therapies for HCC management, including neoadjuvant regimens, surgical resection, liver transplant, and palliative care.
  • Incorporate best practice medical management of liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and acute-on-chronic liver failure.
  • Able to identify fraility in patients with liver disease.
  • Identify the benefits and limitations of current emerging treatments and technologies in the field of liver disease.

This symposium features two concurrent tracks: Managing Organ Failure from Community Care to Kidney Transplantation and End-Stage Liver Disease: Turning Back the Clock from Transplant.

Attendees are asked to select their primary track when registering, however, they are encouraged to move between sessions as they desire.

Meals, refreshment breaks, and the keynote lecture will be held jointly with all attendees.
