This conference focuses on outcomes research in chronic kidney disease and end-stage kidney disease, delivery of care in dialysis units and chronic kidney disease clinics, emerging data on new treatments compared to current standard fo care, review of kidney pathology, and basic science research that may become future therapeutics.

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
- Recognize the standard approach to the histopathologic diagnosis of medical kidney disorders used on kidney biopsies, including a compartment-based approach to diagnosis.
- Recognize the histomorphologic appearance of acute tubular injury in general, and osmotic tubulolapthy in particular, in the proximal tubules of the renal cortex.
- Recognize the histomorphologic appearance of oxalate crystals in a kidney biopsy and their expected appearance under polarized light.
- Recognize the histomorphologic appearance of thrombotic microangiopathy and appreciate the differential diagnosis of causes for TMA in an allograft.
