Program Description: 

WPA Grand Rounds series features a variety of topics in psychiatry. This virtual series occurs monthly on the last Thursday of the month from 12pm-1pm CST.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Describe the structure and purpose of psychiatric advance directives (PADs), including key components like treatment preferences, care provider choices, and emergency contacts.
  • Examine the critiques and barriers to PAD adoption, including disability rights concerns, legal conflicts, and ethical dilemmas.
  • Explore medicolegal and ethical considerations of PADs, such as the concept of Ulysses contracts and balancing autonomy with treatment needs.
