Compare available incretin-based therapies (GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual GLP-1/GIP agonists) based on FDA-approved indications, efficacy, and cardiometabolic benefits.
Summarize primary literature demonstrating the efficacy of incretin-based therapies in the management of type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis (MASH), and obstructive sleep apnea.
Select the most appropriate incretin-based therapy for a given patient based on treatment goals, comorbidities, contraindications, and patient-specific factors. Differentiating factors between available incretin-based therapies will be summarized, helping prescribers choose the best agent for their patient.
Develop monitoring plans and patient counseling strategies to mitigate risk of side effects. Contraindications and precautions with incretin-based therapies will be reviewed, including appropriate monitoring and patient counseling points that can help minimize the risk of side effects.
