Program Description: 
Sadly, our youth are exposed to traumatic events that stretch their capacity for coping.  This is especially true for children living in impoverished communities.  The impact of such experiences will be described, both from a clinical perspective as well as an educational one.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • List several of the most common traumatic events that United States youth are exposed to.
  • Describe the empirical findings on the impact of such events on children and teens.
  • Plan for communication with educators on how trauma can affect learning and classroom behavior.
