Program Description: 

This is a series that includes both didactic lectures and case-based presentations geared towards the pediatric emergency medicine provider. Presentations are given by pediatric emergency medicine providers, subspecialty physicians, or experts from other disciplines and cover a wide range of topics that include an evidence-based medicine approach to pediatric resuscitation/trauma and other common acute pediatric illnesses, public health and advocacy topics such as health disparities, community violence, and pediatric mental health, amongst others.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Describe asthma diagnosis and assessment of control, impairment, and risk
  • Review the 2020 Focused Updates to the NHLBI/NAEPP Expert Panel Asthma Management Guidelines
  • Identify when controller medications or SMART are recommended
  • Leverage collaboration with health care team members and community resources to improve patient outcomes
