This is a weekly conference dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the American Board of Pediatrics Board Content within Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Attending this lecture series will expand one's medical knowledge of the core principles of pediatric critical care medicine, including pathophysiology, diagnostic evaluation, and management for patients in the pediatric ICU.

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
- Integrate the pathophysiology of Sickle Cell Disease with clinical presentations to inform assessment.
- Explain how the underlying mechanisms of Sickle Cell Disease contribute to common and life-threatening presentations in the PICU.
- Recognize and manage acute, life-threatening Sickle Cell Disease complications - such as acute chest syndrome, stoke, sepsis, and severe anemia - in the PICU, with emphasis on timely escalation of care.
- Apply evidence-based indications for simple versus exchange transfusion in the management of critically ill patients with Sickle Cell Disease.
- Explain how acute PICU management decisions influence long-term disease-modifying therapies such as transfusion strategies, hydroxyurea use, and curative approaches in Sickle Cell Disease.
