SlicerDicer Overview
Accessing data to provide improved care for patients
Having access to data related to the care of patients is a critical component to ensuring the patients we care for will be the healthiest in the nation.
SlicerDicer is a self-serve reporting tool within Epic that provides users with powerful, intuitive, and customizable data exploration abilities for clinical, access, and revenue subject areas.
Using this tool will allow you to see trends volumes and pull patient populations based on specific criteria like place of service, diagnosis, surgical procedure, and many other criteria. This tool could allow providers, clinicians, operational leaders, and staff to inform decision-making and improve care.
This course is hands-on, and you will learn the following:
- How to navigate to the tool in Epic
- About the Data models available
- The key components (cards) and toolbars associated with SlicerDicer
- How to navigate within a data model
- How to query data within a data model
- How to save and share a query
Registration for this course is required in Children's Wisconsin's Workday system.
There are three prerequisites required for registration. These courses are also available in Children's Workday.

Customized use case #1 - use cases are customized depending on who is attending. For example, if there are hospitalist providers in the course, the scenarios will cover what they might need to see when working with patients. This first scenario also includes basic navigation tips and explanations.
