Program Description: 

This session is led by Advanced Practice Providers. It will provide education on pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of congenital malformations of the brain.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Identify common congenital brain malformations encountered in neonatal practice and recognize associated clinical presentations.
  • Interpret key diagnostic findings from prenatal imaging, postnatal neuroimaging and genetic evaluation used in the diagnosis of congenital brain anomalies.
  • Discuss initial management and treatment approaches including neonatal stabilization, neurosurgical considerations, seizure management and developmental support.
  • Apply multidisciplinary and family-centered care principles when counseling families and coordinating longitudinal care for infants with congenital brain malformations.
