Informed Consent is often viewed as the foundation upon which to build an ethical, patient-centered healthcare encounter. Yet numerous studies have shown that patients either don’t read or don’t understand most consent forms. They don’t have time, they are too ill; the documents are too long and complex. Without information, how can true consent be granted? This presentation will detail the development of graphic consent and assent forms, and talk about the ways graphic information is and can be used to improve patient education, including during the time of COVID.
