Program Description: 

Cardiovascular Grand Rounds is the primary teaching conference for the Division of Cardiology where both cardiovascular disease syndromes and current research in cardiovascular disease is presented. Cardiovascular Grand Rounds meets a specific need both in the community and at the Medical College for further education in cardiovascular disease states. Cardiovascular Grand Rounds as a recurring activity is continually reviewed by the cardiology faculty.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Differentiate intracardiac filling pressures from total blood volume and apply this distinction to the assessment of congestion in patients with heart failure.
  • Analyze the impact of physiologic modifiers—including splanchnic circulation, gravity, and lymphatic function—on congestion assessment and management in heart failure.
  • Evaluate emerging pressure- and volume-targeted therapies, such as splanchnic nerve modulation and lymphatic-directed interventions, and assess their potential role in heart failure management.
