Program Description: 

Cardiovascular Grand Rounds is the primary teaching conference for the Division of Cardiology where both cardiovascular disease syndromes and current research in cardiovascular disease is presented. Cardiovascular Grand Rounds meets a specific need both in the community and at the Medical College for further education in cardiovascular disease states. Cardiovascular Grand Rounds as a recurring activity is continually reviewed by the cardiology faculty.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Analyze the limitations of standard hemodynamic assessment and identify clinical scenarios in which advanced metrics provide additional insight.
  • Define and interpret advanced hemodynamic parameters, including aortic pulsatility index (API), cardiac power output (CPO), and myocardial performance score (MPS), in the context of cardiac energetics.
  • Explain the relationship between pressure–volume loop analysis and myocardial energy expenditure and apply these principles to clinical assessment.
  • Apply advanced hemodynamic and energetic parameters to optimize diagnosis, risk stratification, and therapeutic decision-making.
