Program Description: 

Cardiovascular Grand Rounds is the primary teaching conference for the Division of Cardiology where both cardiovascular disease syndromes and current research in cardiovascular disease is presented. Cardiovascular Grand Rounds meets a specific need both in the community and at the Medical College for further education in cardiovascular disease states. Cardiovascular Grand Rounds as a recurring activity is continually reviewed by the cardiology faculty.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Review the physiologic and psychosocial rationale for leveraging singing and breathwork to support health and well-being in pediatric patients with single ventricle physiology (Fontan circulation).
  • Summarize the design and implementation of the 8-week feasibility study evaluating group singing, individual voice instruction, and online training for pediatric single ventricle patients.
  • Analyze study findings to assess the potential clinical and quality-of-life benefits of singing and breathwork interventions in children with congenital heart disease.
  • Evaluate next steps in the transition from feasibility to pilot study and identify potential applications of singing and breathwork as adjunctive therapy for children with congenital heart disease.
