Program Description: 

This conference series will discuss new and innovative surgical techniques research studies and outcomes, enhance pre-operative and post-operative patient care, implementation of new guidelines as the climate of healthcare changes. The individual experiences and knowledge bases of the physicians, clinical members and invited speakers are used to augment the total knowledge base of the group as a whole allowing all learners with lesser time and experiences to broaden their funds of knowledge and decision making.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Analyze contemporary surgical treatments for heart and lung disease and apply evidence-based principles to case-based clinical decision-making.
  • Integrate relevant basic science advances and evolving surgical techniques to optimize patient care in cardiothoracic surgery cases.
  • Evaluate institutional care pathways (“care maps”) in relation to national guidelines and local quality measures and identify opportunities for improvement when deviations occur.
