The 34th Forum for Behavioral Science in Family Medicine

Chicago, IL US
September 19, 2013 to September 22, 2013

This year's theme is: Preparing Trainees for the Complexities of Psychosocial Care: Reaffirming the Biopsychosocial Model

September 19 - 22, 2013

First held in 1980, The Forum for Behavioral Science in Family Medicine has served to stimulate the advancement of behavioral science in family medicine for 33 consecutive years. At the core of The Forum’s success are three objectives: promote professional networking, provide high quality professional development opportunities, and advance the integration of behavioral science in family medicine training.

The Department of Family Medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin has sponsored The Forum since 1999, and The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine has recognized and endorsed the conference since 1981.

Our theme for 2013 examines the success of and challenges facing efforts to integrate the biopsychosocial model proposed 35 years ago by Dr. George Engel.  How has the model advanced? What are the challenges to its implementation in family medicine education? What innovative methods and models are being developed for advancing a biopsychosocial orientation in the Patient Centered Medical Home?
