Weekly conference during academic year (Sept-May) to highlight updates and changes to best practice of internal medicine and its subspecialties.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • To define non-invasive ventilation, bi-level positive airway pressure (BPAP) modes and recognize differences between respiratory assist devices (RADs) vs. ventilators.
    • To recommend non-invasive ventilation (NIV) settings for chronic respiratory failure management in patients with COPD.
    • To recognize BPAP setting adjustments that can optimize ventilation in patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS) who benefit from NIV.
    • To recognize ventilator features needed for effective adjustment of ventilation in patients with neuromuscular disease (NMD).
    • To recommend testing needed to qualify patients for domiciliary NIV.
