Weekly conference during academic year (Sept-May) to highlight updates and changes to best practice of internal medicine and its subspecialties.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Assess metabolic syndrome and its implications for kidney disease risk.
  • Identify renal phenotypes linked to metabolic syndrome.
  • Apply a focused evaluation for metabolic syndrome–associated chronic kidney disease
  • Assess clinical red flags that warrant additional evaluation or nephrology referral.
  • Select kidney-protective therapies beyond glycemic control, including options relevant to patients without classic diabetic kidney disease.
  • Implement a multidisciplinary care model to improve outcomes in metabolic syndrome–associated CKD.
