Program Description: 

The series is intended to showcase various expertise of the MCW Emergency Medicine faculty and additionally includes regional and national EM expert presenters.  The faculty Grand Rounds speakers are asked to present topics that are cutting edge and  backed by research and scholarship in the field.  The attendees are able to gain knowledge that is applicable to their daily Emergency medicine practice and allow them to provide higher quality care for their patients.

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to: 

  • Describe procedures that are used to schedule drugs in Wisconsin.
  • List substances that have been scheduled this year.
  • Describe the pharmacological properties of delta-8-THC.
  • Summarize reported mechanisms of action of delta-8-THC.
  • Describe the role of poison control centers in legal highs.
  • Describe overall trends in animal exposures to marijuana products.
  • Illustrate the clinical manifestation of THC toxicosis in pets as well as the factor affecting successful diagnosis and treatment.
