Program Description: 

While seperate Trauma CME is no longer required by the American College of Surgery for emergency medicine faculty, the value of this interdisciplinary conference continues to be recognized.  Traumatically injured patients make up 28% of Emergency Department visits (Center for Disease Control data).  Our faculty need to be prepared to provide high quality care with the best current practices.

Learning objectives: 
  1. Understand the current recommendations and evidence-based practice for the diagnosis, treatment and management of traumatic injuries that present to the ED.
  2. Recognize and effectively discuss patient safety issues, quality improvement principles and areas for improved communication and collaboration with other services for purposes of both individual and systems improvement in providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of trauma patients.
