Program Description: 

The monthly EM Trauma conference is a case based conference which allows for review of cases for the purposes of quality improvement but also allows the education team to highlight ATLS principles. Areas of discussion include clinical care, pathophysiology of traumatically injured patients, team resuscitation dynamics and leadership skills.

Learning objectives: 
  1. Understand the current recommendations and evidence-based practice for the diagnosis, treatment and management of traumatic injuries that present to the ED.
  2. Recognize and effectively discuss patient safety issues, quality improvement principles and areas for improved communication and collaboration with other services for purposes of both individual and systems improvement in providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of trauma patients.
