15109-Case Conference July 21, 2015

Menomonee Falls, WI US
July 21, 2015

What is the clinical/research/teaching/administrative issue you want to address?  The City-Wide Endocrinology Case Conference is a case conference to discuss patients with diabetes and endocrinology disorders.  We have sponsored this dynamic conference for the past 25 years.  Endocrinologists from multiple health care systems, as well as internists and other subspecialists contribute to the conference.  The goals are for all of us to learn from each other with respect to diagnostic, therapeutic, and clinical challenges with respect to both common and uncommon cases of endocrine, diabetes, and metabolic diseases.

Why is this an issue?   Endocrinology care has become more specialized and it is difficult for a single individual to have up-to-date expertise in diabetes, obesity, lipids, pituitary tumors, Cushing's, metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, women's health, adrenal hypertension, as well as others.  Many endocrine disorders are rare and the case conference also allows us to learn from the experience of other physicians.

What is it that you want to change amongst the many variables that are causing the issue?   Goals would include to improve knowledge of participating attendees so that they can better care for their patients.  Additionally, improving the understanding of regional expertise and care is also gained from this conference.

How will you know you were effective in producing that change?  Quarterly evaluations are given out at the conference to validate the benefit to attendees
