Bi-Annual Update in Clinical Endocrinology Symposium
Brookfield, WI US
November 1, 2013 to November 2, 2013
Our goal is to provide a conference to primary care physician and providers that allows that individual a greater ability to recognize and/or manage common endocrine disorders and diabetes within their practice.
Endocrine diseases and diabetes are common medical disorders in primary care. With the obesity epidemic there is an epidemic of diabetes and related metabolic complications such as diabetes and hypogonadism. Tests available to diagnose hypogonadism in obese men are confusing secondary to changes in binding proteins and limitations of hormonal assays. Diabetes treatment choices have become more complicated as such so have the guidelines. Additionally medical treatment for obesity is available with FDA approved medications. Recently two randomized controlled studies have been negative with respect to the added benefit of niacin for high risk cardiovascular patients calling into question the role of combination treatment for hyperlipidemia.
