Program Description: 

Endocrine Grand rounds is an educational conference based on clinical and basic sciences in Endocrinology at The Medical College of Wisconsin campus and occurs on the 1st Thursdays of each month. The goal of this conference is for endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, endocrine fellows, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, nurse practitioners, PhD researchers, residents, and students to have a venue to learn a variety of clinical and basic science topics as well as recent benchmarks in the field for the benefit of improving patient care and research on a vast array of topics in Endocrinology.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

 Present an overview GDF-15 and it’s signaling pathways
 Explain the interaction between GDF-15 and Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic family receptor alpha-like receptor (GFRAL)
 Present an overview of tissue sources of GDF-15
 Discuss the integrated stress response (ISR) and its relationship to GDF-15
 Discuss recent data and GDF-15 potential impacts on appetite suppression and weight loss
 Address potential therapeutic targets involving GDF-15 physiology
