Program Description: 

Endocrine Grand rounds is an educational conference based on clinical and basic sciences in Endocrinology at The Medical College of Wisconsin campus and occurs on the 1st Thursdays of each month. The goal of this conference is for endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, endocrine fellows, physician assistants, nurses, dietitians, nurse practitioners, PhD researchers, residents, and students to have a venue to learn a variety of clinical and basic science topics as well as recent benchmarks in the field for the benefit of improving patient care and research on a vast array of topics in Endocrinology.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Identify the features of the new Omnipod 5 automated insulin delivery (AID) System and how to personalize therapy and optimize glucose control.

  • Compare and contrast all the available automated insulin delivery systems, which connect an insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring system, and software algorithm to automate insulin delivery based on real-time glycemic data.

  • Review the available emergency glucagon treatment options

  • Evaluate an AID case in order to facilitate shared decision making when creating a diabetes management plan.
