Clinical Genetics Advanced Practice Provider Conference (CGAPP) 2023
This conference is specifically designed for the advanced practice provider (APP) working in a clinical genetics setting. (If you are unsure if this designation fits you, please email CGAPP@mcw.edu.)
CGAPP is not a credentialing course in Genetics nor is it a 101 class to understand the basics of Genetics. CGAPP focuses on the APP who provides care for genetic and metabolic patients on a regular basis. Presentations will include advanced topics within Genetics.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for advance practice providers currently working in clinical genetics.
Learning Objectives
- Know genetic testing fundamentals, classification of variants, and the future of new testing modalities.
- Understand how zebra fish models are used for research on variants of uncertain significance.
- Know basics on muscular dystrophies, disorders of sexual differentiation, MPS disorders, and mitochondrial disorders.
- Update on newborn screening: the advancements and the possible future.
- Learn fundamentals on cardiogenetics, gene therapy, and why teratology is important in your physical exam and differential diagnosis.
- Breakout groups will provide an opportunity to consider some of the ethical dilemmas in clinical genetics, allow providers who treat PKU and LSDs an opportunity to discuss best practices, and general genetics will get an update in clinical guidelines.

The conference will be held at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel.
A block of rooms have been reserved for $181/night (plus taxes and fees).

Registration Fee = $300.00
All registrations will be assessed $12.00 non-refundable processing fee.
