ForwardThis course will provide an overview of different types of acquired thrombocytopenia. It will help clinicians gain familiarity with the pathogenesis of acquired thrombocytopenias and be able to establish a differential diagnosis. Thrombocytopenia is among the most common reason for consultation with a hematologist for both in-patients and out-patients. There are different disorders which can cause a low platelet count and put a patient at risk for bleeding. The course will help clinicians to understand the differences among the different underlying disorders and how to appropriately manage impacted patients.
