Disparities in Health: The Past, The Present and The Future

Leonard E. Egede, MD, MS

Professor of Medicine & Eminent Scholar

Associate Director for Cancer Disparities, MCW Cancer Center

 

Dr. Egede is a tenured Professor and Eminent Scholar, Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine, Director, Center for Patient Centered Outcomes Research and Associate Director for Cancer Disparities at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Dr. Egede is also a Professor in the Institute for Health and Equity at MCW. Dr. Egede is a general internist, has a M.S. in clinical research and completed a fellowship in health services research. Dr. Egede has led research projects designed to understand the interplay between socio-demographic and psychological factors in health outcomes and test behavioral interventions to reduce health disparities. He is extensively funded by federal (including NIH, AHRQ, VA, CDC DoD) and non-federal agencies to conduct health disparities research. He has authored over 240 original publications related to psychosocial influences and racial/ethnic differences in health outcomes in peer-reviewed journals.
