The Milwaukee Academy of Medicine hosts eight educational presentations every year: once a month from January through May, and again from September through November. Distinguished national and local medical experts share their knowledge and experiences on topics of interest to a broad spectrum of medical practitioners. The didactic presentations are comprised of traditional audio-visual modalities, a discussion period involving Q&A, and the sharing of personal experiences by audience members to facilitate expert commentary and further discussion.

Joan Bachleitner, J.D.
Chief Strategy Officer, Ascension Wisconsin
The Future of Hospitals
Changing market dynamics are causing health systems to rethink the services they provide on hospital campuses. Innovation, technology, payer and regulatory mandates, and consumer preference are all driving where and how patients access care. The Future of Hospitals will explore what factors are driving hospital trends and what health systems are doing to address these market shifts.
Joan Bachleitner is the Chief Strategy Officer at Ascension Wisconsin and oversees the strategy development for Ascension Wisconsin’s 23 hospitals and 110 clinics across the state. Prior to joining Ascension Wisconsin, Joan served as the Vice President of Strategic Development for SSM Health, Dean Clinic and Dean Health Plan based in Madison, Wisconsin after spending 7 years practicing commercial real estate and business law in Madison and Chicago. Joan received her undergraduate and law degrees from UW-Madison.
