Program Description: 

This conference focuses on outcomes research in chronic kidney disease and end-stage kidney disease, delivery of care in dialysis units and chronic kidney disease clinics, emerging data on new treatments compared to current standard fo care, review of kidney pathology, and basic science research that may become future therapeutics.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Describe the proposed pathophysiologic mechanisms for endothelin involvement in chronic kidney disease.
  • Analyze results from the PRECISION trial of a dual endothelin receptor antagonist in the treatment of resistant hypertension.
  • Examine results from the ZENITH-CKD trial of a selective endothelin A receptor antagonist in patients with chronic kidney disease.
  • Discuss how endothelin receptor antagonists may fit into the future therapeutic regimen available to nephrologists.
