Program Description: 

This conference focuses on outcomes research in chronic kidney disease and end-stage kidney disease, delivery of care in dialysis units and chronic kidney disease clinics, emerging data on new treatments compared to current standard fo care, review of kidney pathology, and basic science research that may become future therapeutics.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Quantify the burden of depression in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and interpret its impact on clinical outcomes and quality of life.​
  • Analyze pathophysiologic and behavioral links between depression and CKD to inform risk stratification and management strategies.​
  • Screen and diagnose depression in the CKD population using validated tools and structured clinical assessment.​
  • Anticipate and mitigate common pitfalls in the diagnostic evaluation of depression among patients with CKD.​
  • Assess established and emerging treatment options for depression in CKD and determine their appropriate role within individualized treatment plans.​
  • Evaluate and incorporate new therapeutic targets and care approaches for patients with CKD and comorbid depression into clinical practice where appropriate.
