Program Description: 

Neurology Grand Rounds is a weekly lecture series designed to improve clinical competency and patient care by exposing attendees to evidence-based practices and recent advances in disciplines across the breadth of the clinical neurosciences including but not limited to: neuropsychology, cognitive neurology, headache medicine, movement disorders, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neuro-immunology, neuro-ophthalmology, vascular neurology, endovascular interventional neuroradiology, and neuro critical care. Attendees are also regularly exposed to both pertinent basic science and clinical research occurring both on campus and elsewhere.

Title:          Diagnosis and Management of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis 

•    Describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology (including Virchow’s triad), and key risk factors associated with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST)
•    Recognize the spectrum of clinical presentations and select appropriate diagnostic strategies, including MRI/MRV, CT/CTV, and relevant laboratory evaluation
•    Develop evidence-based management plans for CVST, including anticoagulation, supportive care, advanced therapies, and special population considerations (e.g., pregnancy)
•    Assess prognosis, long-term outcomes, recurrence risk, and apply clinical knowledge through case-based scenarios
