Program Description: 

Neurology Grand Rounds is a weekly lecture series designed to improve clinical competency and patient care by exposing attendees to evidence-based practices and recent advances in disciplines across the breadth of the clinical neurosciences including but not limited to: neuropsychology, cognitive neurology, headache medicine, movement disorders, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neuro-immunology, neuro-ophthalmology, vascular neurology, endovascular interventional neuroradiology, and neuro critical care. Attendees are also regularly exposed to both pertinent basic science and clinical research occurring both on campus and elsewhere.

Title:                       Opioid-Associated Amnestic Syndrome: A Case Review

Objectives:  

  • Review a case of opioid-associated amnestic syndrome
  • Discuss modalities used for diagnosis of this syndrome
  • Discuss possible pathophysiology of this syndrome

Annaliise Hayrynen, DO

Title:                       A Crawling Weakness: Case Report

Objectives:

  • Present an interesting case report of a geographic/regionally relevant diagnosis
  • Briefly review potential pathways and pathophysiology of the disease process disclosed in the case report
  • Discuss key points and takeaways for the management of the case above

Ryan Lee, MD

Title:                       Adult-onset post-pump chorea, an extremely rare entity

Objectives:

    • Discuss post-pump chorea:  definition, incidence, and clinical features
    • Discuss differential diagnoses, prognosis and management
    • Present case report:  65 year-old female with post-pump hemi-chorea

Tina Nigam, MD

Title:                      Anakinra in the treatment of Rasmussen encephalitis

Objectives:

    • What is Rasmussen encephalitis?
    • What is anakinra?
    • Discuss the involvement of Neurology (neurophysiology, neuroimmunology), neurosurgery, neuropsychology
    • Discuss improvement in seizure frequency after anakinra

William Pennant, MD

Title:                       Diffuse Midline Gliomas

Objectives:

    • Review histopathology
    • Examine challenges of treatment
    • Look forward to promising therapies
