2020 Wisconsin Dermatological Society Fall Meeting

This educational activity is designed to enhance the knowledge of the academic and community dermatologists in Wisconsin.  This activity will include 4 lectures and 5 case presentations of virtual patients followed by a question and answer session. The virtual cases were selected to highlight unusual presentations of rare and common conditions, novel treatments, and practice management issues. These patient cases will emphasize application of evidence-based medicine and up-to-date references.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Safely use isotretinoin for acne in overweight adolescents.
  • Be able to outline staging systems for high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and stage tumors accurately, be aware of different imaging modalities available for high-risk cutaneous SCCs, be able to identify SCCs that may require multi-disciplinary care, and have a general understanding of staging procedures and systemic treatments for advanced SCC.
  • Appreciate the latest translational science in wound care, provide optimal care for patients with surgical and aesthetic wounds, and differentiate healing from non-healing wounds to provide timely advanced care.
  • Order diagnostic tests and initial management for pediatric patients with mucositis and rash, counsel patients with MIRM and related disorders about prognosis and risk of recurrence, and describe the differential diagnosis of pediatric patients with mucositis and rash.
