32nd Annual MCW Virtual Sports Medicine Symposium

Overview

The 32nd Annual Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Symposium is a two-day educational course for care providers involved in the treatment of athletes of all ages. The 2021 virtual event is comprised of didactic lectures.  Topics highlighted included medical and musculoskeletal problems of athletes, COVID-19 in Sports, Depression and Athletes, and many more topics.  

 

Target Audience

This symposium is designed for primary care physicians, emergency medicine physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, nurses, coaches, athletic directors, and anyone who is interested and involved in the care of athletes of all ages and abilities. 

 

Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Develop skills in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of common elbow, back, hip, foot, ankle and knee musculoskeletal injuries as well as medical conditions in athletic populations
  • Construct a set of standards for on-field injuries and evaluation of injuries in the athletic training facility and office settings
  • Examine strategies for effective use of physical therapy and athletic training consults
  • Choose strategies for effective prevention of sexual violence
  • Compare strategies for helping patients be active and prevent injury
