Presenters

Lisa Arkin, MD is currently the Director of Pediatric Dermatology, an Assistant Professor of Dermatology & Pediatrics and serves as the Co-Director of the Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Center (BVAC) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is currently the chair of the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Early Investigator's Committee, and responsible for creation of programming directed for trainees and junior faculty <7 years out of fellowship.

Her current research involves investigation of patients with so-called "COVID toes," with banked tissue including serial blood, saliva and skin biopsies. The intention of this work is to solidify the genetic and immune signature in these patients to catalyze therapeutics for those at risk for severe COVID.

She also has a Dermatology Foundation-funded project starting this spring to find a precision-based treatment for patients with port wine stains. This project will leverage novel imaging utilizing optical coherence tomography and genotyping to determine more precise treatment parameters for these patients. As part of that project, she and Dr. Beth Drolet are utilizing spatial transcriptomics to map downstream pathways in patients with known GNAQ/GNA11 mutations to elucidate molecular targets for pharmacologic intervention.

Bethany Schlosser, MD has dedicated her career to advancing the field of women’s skin health and to improving the lives of women and girls through education, clinical care, and investigative research. Dr. Schlosser is an internationally recognized expert in female genital (vulvar) mucosal disorders, acne, rosacea, skin disorders in pregnancy, and excess hair disorders in women.  For more than twelve years, Dr. Schlosser served as full-time faculty in the Departments of Dermatology and Obstetrics/Gynecology at Northwestern University, serving as Director of Women’s Skin Health Program, Vulvar Mucosal Specialty Clinic, and Skin Concerns in Pregnancy Clinic.  She is currently devoting her time to caring for her immediate and extended family in the context of the COVID pandemic.

Dr. Schlosser attended Bucknell University.  She earned her MD and her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2003. Dr. Schlosser completed an internship at Mayo Clinic and performed her residency in Dermatology at Emory University.

Dr. Schlosser serves in leadership roles for various medical organizations including the Women’s Dermatologic Society, the American Acne and Rosacea Society and the American Academy of Dermatology.
