Target Audience
This module is designed for members of the MCW community - MCW Faculty, MCP, CSG, CMG, CP and Zablocki VA physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with a current DEA certificate and who prescribe opioids for pain management.

- Explain how this model can move a patient from a pure sensory understanding of pain to a broader understanding which includes the emotional and stress factors responsible for suffering
Acute Versus Chronic Pain
- Differentiate the nature of acute and chronic pain
- Contrast the call to action of acute pain and the call to inaction of chronic pain
- Distinguish the brain pathophysiologic changes of the two states
