Pain: More than a feeling is a module within the 2021 Virtual Opioid Rounds. You will be able to claim credit for all modules you complete at the end of the course.

After you have completed your selected modules, select the Virtual Opioid Rounds Evaluation & Summary Module to complete the overall evaluation and access your CME certificate.

Target Audience

This module is designed for members of the MCW community - MCW Faculty, MCP, CSG, CMG, CP and Zablocki VA physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants with a current DEA certificate and who prescribe opioids for pain management.
 

Learning Objectives

Learners who engage in the educational content will be able to:

Bio-Behavioral Conversation

  • Explain how this model can move a patient from  a pure sensory understanding  of pain to a broader understanding which includes the emotional and stress factors responsible for suffering

Acute Versus Chronic Pain

  • Differentiate the nature of acute and chronic pain
  • Contrast the call to action of acute pain and the call to inaction of chronic pain
  • Distinguish the brain pathophysiologic changes of the two states
